Position Summary Garden Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of their department.
They are responsible for maximizing department sales and customer service by providing an amazing customer experience as well as operationally maintain the department.
Operations duties may include merchandising and stocking, creating attractive displays, assisting with store events, work on restocking orders with vendors and our Buyers.
All team members are expected to serve all customers across the departments, as well as their own departments.
A department manager contributes to the growth and development of their teammates as well as to themselves.
Major responsibilities include:
Drive store sales by ensuring that all customers areacknowledged, customer projectneeds are met, and concerns are resolved quickly Conduct accurate inventory control operations and manage retail inventory to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure report accuracy Assist with the shipping, receiving and inventory flow for your department Hiring, scheduling and training of staff Make sure that your department meets merchandising and visual presentation standards Abide by safety policies and procedures and be a safety role model for others Minimum Requirement include:
Education/Training:
High School degree, some college preferred.
Possess a vast product knowledge of plants and supplies along with a willingness to learn.
Master Gardner required.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years retail experience.
Skills/Knowledge:
Strong leadership and analytical skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail Ability and willingness to work flexible retail hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business Knowledge of Epicor EAGLE retail software, MS Word and Excel a plus Physical Requirements include:
Ability to stand for an extended period of time Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and moving of products and perform all functions as set forth Ability to lift and handle large bags of soils and other products.
